Soon you’ll be able to drive that Tesla Model X or Model S faster for a longer period of time, as the electric carmaker’s CEO Elon Musk has announced the company is developing two new versions of the vehicles.

Musk unveiled the plans for the revamped Model S and X during a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, claiming the carmaker would now be the third fastest accelerating production car ever made.

The new Model S, which will be version P100D with Ludicrous mode, will be able to go from 0 mph to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds.

The vehicle will come equipped with a 100 kilowatt-per-hour battery and a 315 mile charge, making it the first to go beyond a 300-mile charge, according to Tesla.

Likewise, the Model X P100D in Ludicrous mode — also equipped with a 100 kWh battery — will be able to go from 0 mph to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds, and will travel 289 miles on a single charge.

The new models, which will have a very limited production, will start at $134,500 for the Model S and $135,500 for the Model X.

Additionally, customers who have already ordered a P90D Ludicrous, but haven’t yet received the vehicle, can upgrade to the new battery for $10,000. Existing owners can upgrade for $20,000.

The company notes that while the new P100D version “obviously an expensive vehicle,” a portion of the funds will go toward paying for the development and creation of the Model 3 — which went on sale this year for pre-orders and is expected to hit the road next year.

“Without customers willing to buy the expensive Model S and X, we would be unable to fund the smaller, more affordable Model 3 development,” the company said.
