There might be plenty of fish in the sea for daters to choose from, but there are a few that if caught, should probably be thrown right back. For example, a man accused of stealing thousands of dollars from women he met and wooed online.

Over the last two years, police in several towns in the Boston area say the charming man has been preying on women, often dates he meets on dating site PlentyOfFish.com, reports CBS Boston. One woman says she’d fallen for the man, until he stole $4,000 from her. Once she started digging into his past, she found other stories like her own.

“What bothered me the most is that he was on the street, a ticking time bomb and meeting other girls and families, and hurting them financially and emotionally,” she told the news station.

Another woman says he stole $20,000 from her and pretended to have cancer.

“He takes all of your self-esteem away, and made you really embarrassed,” she said. “It was little bits at a time saying he needed to pay this cancer bill or this doctor bill, and he didn’t have cancer.”

Police have finally caught up with the man and arrested him on larceny charges. They believe he may have scammed at least eight women and their families.
