Do Not Try To Parkour Across A Bruegger’s Rooftop To Impress Your Date

Emergency responders had to work for hours overnight to free a Pittsburgh-area man trapped between two buildings. He was not there due to some accident of architecture or building collapse, though; he was there because he’d tried to execute a rooftop maneuver he shouldn’t have been doing, and failed. Badly.

As local CBS station KDKA reports, at 2 a.m. today the 22-year-old man, a local college student, tried to jump from the rooftop of one building to another, higher building in order to impress a young lady of his recent acquaintance.

When he missed, he fell three stories and became wedged between two walls. The young woman, as well as other bystanders, saw that he was in need of assistance and called campus police, who in turn called 911.

Getting the student out of his predicament required knocking out several walls and going directly through a Qdoba. Pittsburgh public safety director Wendell Hissrich told KDKA, “It appears there were three walls that we had to go through and also we had people on the roof, one of the paramedics did rappel down the three stories to render assistance and to get a landmark as to where he was.”

After four hours, a team of paramedics, police, and public works officials were able to extract the would-be Casanova and take him to receive medical attention for a broken ankle.

As spotted on Reddit and other sites, employees of the Bruegger’s Bagels next door to the Qdoba were less than impressed with the student’s maneuver, since his rescue delayed their morning opening by several hours.
