Between Apple Music, Spotify, Google Play Music, and others, music lovers have plenty of options when it comes to hearing their favorite tunes for a price. And yet, another player jumped into this already crowded pool today, as Spotify officially unveiled its SoundCloud Go subscription service.
The tiered subscription streaming service, which officially launched in the U.S. today, allows users to access more than 125 million tracks including licensed content and user-generated content starting at $9.99/month.
“SoundCloud Go is the same SoundCloud you’ve known for years taken to the next level: with an expanded catalog of tracks that are new to the platform, new features and new functionality,” the company says on its blog post.
The new service was first spotted as an update in version 4 of the SoundCloud iOS app.
Like Apple Music before it, SoundCloud Go is free to users for the first 30 days and $9.99/month afterwards on Android devices. For those using the iOS app, the monthly fee will be $12.99/month because of Apple’s transaction fee.
“SoundCloud Go represents our vision of the future of music streaming: a platform for creators to collaborate on; for fans to discover the latest tracks, enjoy legendary music and connect with their favorite artists; and for our unique creative community to have the opportunity to be paid for their work,” Alexander Ljung, SoundCloud Founder and CEO, said in a statement.
Go is not SoundCloud’s first foray into subscription services, TechCrunch points out. The company previously launched SoundCloud Pro, a service aimed at those who create music.
SoundCloud is offering Pro users a discount on the Go service, adding $4.99/month for their first six months using the new streaming option.
