Doctor Who fans who have been grieving since the show disappeared from the streaming arena, rejoice: Amazon says it’s bringing the popular BBC time-traveling series back to Prime as the show’s exclusive U.S. streaming partner.
Starting March 27, Prime members will have access to seasons 1 through 8 of Doctor Who, BBC America announced today (h/t The Verge). The most recent and ninth season, as well as the holiday special, will land on Amazon Prime this fall.
Lest you’re worried that the doc will be taken away again soon, BBC America says Amazon will be the one and only streaming partner of the sci-fi series in a contract that will last for a “multi-year” period.
Fans got excited about Doctor Who’s return to streaming last month, hot on the heels of the news that the show had been pulled from Netflix earlier this year. At that time, as The A.V. Club points out, it seems someone at Amazon Prime Tweeted something they shouldn’t have, prompting Amazon to recant the news that it’d be coming back.
