There have been rumors of suspected involvement by the North Korean government in the hack, and a new report claims that Sony will officially name the country as the source of the breach.
Re/code cites two sources “close to the investigation” as saying that Sony will soon point the finger in North Korea’s direction.
If so, will it name the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea as the source of the hack, or merely claim that the attack was perpetrated by the country, whose leadership is none too happy about the upcoming Sony-distributed comedy The Interview, in which James Franco and Seth Rogen are tasked with assassinating DPRK Supreme Leader Kim Jong-Un
A rep for Sony would only say that “The investigation continues into this very sophisticated cyber attack.”
