Comedian Accuses Burger King Of Stealing His Routine For New Commercial

ad Over the years Burger King has crafted some interesting concepts for commercials. Remember the King in bed with unsuspecting people? The fast food joint’s latest man-on-the-street ad, while decidedly less creepy, has one comedian calling foul.

Billy Eichner, known for his “Billy on the Street,” skits on Funny or Die, accused Burger King of ripping-off his comedy routine, Time reports.

The Burger King commercial in question, which aired during Sunday Night Football, features a dark-haired man going up to two pedestrians, asking them questions about BK food and reacting with exuberance.

Eichner says the ad is too similar to his own routine which features the comedian – usually accompanied by a celebrity – chasing down New Yorkers to ask them pop culture questions while gesticulating wildly and screaming at them.

“Hey @BurgerKing – thanks for stealing my act for ur new commercial!!” Eichner wrote on Twitter.

Following the comedian’s chastising on social media, several other celebrities shared their displeasure.

“Hey @burgerking, you were stupid if you think hiring some random actor to rip off @billyeichner was going to work. I WAS AVAILABLE!!!” actor and comedian Micheal Ian Black posted on Twitter.

“Yo @BurgerKing, stop stealing from the hilarious @billyeichner and stick to what you’re good at: giving me diarrhea,” Seth Rogan commented.

Burger King and the ad agency responsible for the new commercial have not responded for requests for comment, Time reports.

So what do you think? Are the two videos similar in a coincidental type of way or did Burger King take Eichner’s routine as their own?
