Customers Get NFL Network, RedZone Back After Dish And NFL Make A Deal

After a few months in the dark, Dish customers will get NFL Network and NFL RedZone back in their channel lineup in time to watch their favorite teams toss around the ol’ pig skin come football season.

Dish and the NFL resolved the contract fight they’d been in since mid-June on Wednesday, with the satellite service provider saying in a statement that it has “reached a multi-year agreement with NFL Network for carriage of NFL Network and RedZone.”

The spat had blacked out NFL Network for 7 million Dish customers since June 16, and would’ve kept NFL RedZone — a gameday-only channel that broadcasts Sunday games — from their TVs once the regular season started.

“The channels were restored to DISH’s channel lineup earlier this evening,” a Dish spokesperson told the Denver Post on Wednesday.

No terms of the agreement were disclosed.

Although there aren’t any details about how the two decided to kiss and makeup, Dish CEO Charlie Ergen struck a positive note during a recent company earnings call, notes the Denver Post.

“With the NFL, it’s a bit more — in a funny way — positive. We’re spending time thinking about how to do things together in a broader sense. It’s not dollars and cents,” Ergen said.

There are there Dish blackouts still going on because of contract disputes, however: a fight between Tribune Media and Dish has meant customers haven’t been able to watch Tribune Co. channels in 33 markets since June 13. That fight has yet to be resolved.
