Perdue Recalls 15,000 Pounds Of Chicken Nuggets That May Contain Plastic Nuggets

http://ift.tt/1vMuWGv

nuggetIf you prefer your chicken nuggets to be antibiotic-free and plastic shard-free, it’s time to check your pantry: Perdue’s Applegate Naturals brand has recalled more than 15,000 pounds of frozen chicken nuggets after customers complained that they contained pieces of plastic.

What should you look for? Affected nugget boxes have a sell-by date of Feb. 5, 2015, and the number P2617 inside their USDA inspection mark. So far, no consumers have reported any illness or tooth injury from contaminated nuggets, but you should still bring them back to the store where you purchased them.

While this doesn’t have anything to do with the reason for the recall, it’s interesting that the Applegate Naturals box has three different asterisks after words on the front of the box, including the word “natural,” which doesn’t mean a whole lot in the context of food labeling anyway.

If you have any questions about the recall, call Perdue at (800) 587-5858.
